I absolutely love running my small business and I am so proud to see how much I have grown over the last three years, but I will admit that it is hard at times! I am so lucky to have such a wonderful network around me of past clients and some very talented local suppliers and today I wanted to share 3 ways to support small businesses. And even better, they’re all free!
Reviews
If you have ever had your makeup done by me, it is likely you will have received a message from me asking for a review after your booking. Reviews are like gold dust for a small business and I am so thankful to all of my brides and clients who take the time to write out a review for me. They don’t have to be super long so don’t feel you need to write an essay! If you have any photos, whether they are professional wedding images or a selfie, these can be included too (if you are comfortable of course).
I currently have three areas in which you are able to leave me a review; Google, Facebook and Hitched (a wedding supplier website). Click on any of those names to be taken to my review pages. Thank you, thank you!
Social Media
The second way to support small businesses is through social media. Social media is now one of the biggest parts of my business and I thank Facebook almost entirely for my first year of Imogen Sandy MUA as it’s where I got about 90% of my bookings in that first 12 months!
Any interaction from my followers on social media, whether big or small, helps me massively. Liking and commenting on my posts, sharing them with friends or giving me a follow is so helpful for my small business as it boosts my profile in the eyes of Instagram/Facebook and helps me reach more people! I am also always so thankful when I see clients recommending me on Facebook posts in local groups, such as Wokingham Gossip Girls.

Sharing Photos
I love nothing more than seeing my clients photos after they’ve had their makeup done. On wedding days, I only get to see the getting ready part of the day so it is so lovely to see how the day pans out through the professional images. I have often spent months and sometimes over a year chatting back and forth with my brides regarding their plans, so seeing it all come together is so fun! Whether you are posting selfies to your social medias and tagging me, sharing them with a review or sending over the links to your bridal galleries, I am so grateful. I have definitely shed a tear or two looking through bridal galleries before!
