Throughout my years as a bridal makeup artist, I have been lucky enough to be a part of nearly 200 wedding days. I have met countless amazing bridal party’s, but I often see brides making one big mistake… not utilising their bridesmaids! I touched on this topic on my ‘Tips for Your Wedding Morning’ blog post, but wanted to chat a little more about it today. So, let’s talk about the 5 most important jobs for your bridesmaids on your wedding day.

The Mary Poppins
This job role is for the bridesmaid who seems to always have everything ever needed in their handbag. Their bag of tricks will be fully stocked with plasters, your bridal lipstick to top up with, tissues, paracetamol, mints – anything you could possibly need throughout the day. It’s a tuck shop you can access all day!
The Bartender
This job is perfect for the Mum friend of the group. This very important role is to ensure your glass is always topped up, both with prosecco once the bottle is popped, but also with water. Staying hydrated on your wedding morning is so important but can easily slip your mind, so this job is crucial. Your morning-after self will thank this bridesmaid infinitely!

The DJ
Got a friend who always has an amazing aux? This role is for them. The job description? To ensure the wedding morning is filled with good tunes and good vibes. Their task is to pre-make a playlist perfect for getting ready. Now this could be a surprise to you on the morning, or a fun activity to review the playlist the night before to add in any extra songs you love.
The Bodyguard
This task is an underrated and very important one. This bridesmaids responsibility is to ensure you are not bothered whilst having your hair and makeup done. They know where things are, they answer any questions directed to you and prevent interruptions while you’re in the makeup chair. This not only allows you to sit back and relax, but helps the timings run smoothly with no stop-start interruptions.
The more time you spend jumping up and down to answer questions or find things in your bags, the later your schedule runs. If you are going to allocate any job on your big day, make it this one!

The Perfectionist
This role is for the bridesmaid who has an eye for detail. Is your necklace twisted? Got a loose thread on your dress? Lipstick on your teeth? This bridesmaid keeps an eye out for these little details, both before you walk down the aisle and during pictures.

Which job role do you think would be most important to you on your wedding day? Got a friend in mind for each task? Be sure to utilise your bridesmaids on your big day so you can focus on the important bit… getting married!
